Each check below runs on a model we build and train ourselves. Before it goes into the product, every model is measured on test sets never used in training, at the thresholds the product uses.
Document detection
Is the uploaded image really an ID document? Selfies, portrait photos, receipts, bank cards and business cards can't pass the document step.
Document liveness
Is the card physically in hand, or captured from a screen, a print or a photocopy?
MRZ reading
Reads the document's machine-readable zone and validates the ICAO 9303 check digits.
Face liveness
Is the person taking the selfie really in front of the camera? Two models decide together; unless both approve, the selfie doesn't pass.
Face matching
Is the person in the selfie the same person as in the document photo?
Age estimation
Estimates an age range and the probability of being 18 or over from the selfie. The 18+ decision comes from the date of birth on the document; the estimate is a second signal.
